DocuWare CDMAKER

This innovative module allows you to transfer DocuWare 3.1/4 file cabinets or parts of file cabinets on to CDs. The DocuWare CDMAKER functionality is an integrated part of DocuWare. DocuWare CDMAKER lets you to choose specific disks from a list of all disks which have been used for a file cabinet as document storage location. Additionally, DocuWare CDMAKER is offering a function in the DocuWare 3.1/4 file cabinet administration which allows you to define the storage capacity for each disk used for document storage, in order to prevent exceeding the capacity of a CD for a later recording process. When defining which documents shall be recorded on to the CD, you can select disks of multiple different DocuWare 3.1/4 file cabinets.

The setup program also defines if the retrieval program DocuWare CDREQUEST and the database information of the selected file cabinet(s) shall be included on the CD. This is especially useful if the recorded CD shall be used later as a stand-alone retrieval media.

Before the recording process is started, a capacity calculation function informs you about the exact storage volume of the selected file cabinet disk(s) and the current utilization level of the CD which will be recorded.

Recording a CD
By the clicking of a button, the recording process is started and the document files and, optionally, DocuWare CDREQUEST and the database files are recorded on a CD. No additional recording software is needed for this process. DocuWare CDMAKER supports all standard CD recorders. After a successful recording session, the documents can be deleted automatically from their initial storage location. In order to ensure the highest possible data integrity, a single file verification process can be included in the recording procedure.

Retrieving from a CD
CDs which have been created with DocuWare CDMAKER can be used in different environments. The recorded CD can serve as an integrated part of a complete storage solution for a file cabinet within DocuWare 3.1 or 4. Access to the documents on the CD can be performed in a single-disk CD-ROM drive or, especially in network environments, as part of a CD-ROM jukebox solution.
